SAMPLE (LONG) MESSAGE TO SHOWTIME:
Dear David Nevins,
How unloved do you feel? I am a fan of the Showtime series, "The Borgias" and because of your decision to prematurely cancel the show, I am left in the wilderness in "a game of want and wanting" and I feel unloved! As a dedicated fan of "The Borgias". I must ask, am I to have no voice in the matter? I think not! In this day and age, when your subscribers have a multitude of options for watching movies on television and on line, it is apparent that most of us are paying to tune in and see original, quality and stimulating programming. "The Borgias" is just that, original, quality and stimulating. Brilliant actors, superb writing, amazing sets and costumes, beautiful cinematography, and crisp editing all combine to make this series beyond exceptional. As if that was not reason enough to bring back the show, one of the amazing side effects of this spectacular production is that most fans have been inspired to read as much history as they can find about the actual Borgia family. Your show is inspiring people to do research, to read, to learn! Imagine that! Why would you pull programming with that kind of effect that also is captivating entertainment? As viewers, we invest ourselves completely in shows, especially in quality shows like "The Borgias". You and Showtime cannot continue to ask viewers to tune in every week and invest their head and hearts in your shows only to turn around and prematurely cancel these shows leaving us feeling empty and angry. Viewers, like me, will simply stop watching Showtime's programs. We will not want to invest ourselves again, because we will no longer be able to trust Showtime and your programming decisions. No, Mr. Nevins, it seems that a great season finale does not a series finale make. Your viewers are too smart to fall for that! In January 2013, you said, "It’s really important to me that our audience feels taken care of." Well, Mr. Nevins, we do not feel "taken care of". I don't feel "taken care of" I feel ignored! I feel unloved! I want my voice heard! I want Showtime Networks, Inc and CBS Corporation to keep their promise to me, and all the fans, to finish this stunningly beautiful, deftly written, and superbly acted story of the Borgia family with at least one more season to give the series a proper ending! Don't be deceived by ratings, Mr. Nevins, "The Borgias" has a large, dedicated fan following all over the world. This show is loved, even if its fans are not! Please remember that these sardines represent people. (Add number here) fan(s) of "The Borgias" in (add your city & state, or country if outside of USA, here), who envision(s) that you "shall dine on sardines", in penitence, until you give us back "The Borgias". Sincerely, Jane Doe ***PLEASE NOTE***
If you are using the sample messages on this page, please remember to change to your own location and indicate how many people the sardines represent as fans, such as, "these sardines represent 4 people, fans of 'The Borgias' in Orlando, Florida". Also, please, feel free to add any of the optional items on this page or parts of the samples to combine with your own sentiments. Your personal sentiments are very important! Also, do not include personal, identifiable information directly on the sardine cans you send, such as your full name, home address, telephone number, and/or e-mail address.
