THE FANS SPEAK OUT
Rebecca: “It is the best show I have seen ever! There is so much that needs to be resolved that a fourth season is absolutely necessary!!!” |
Ming Chen:
Falls church, VA “There is no better well written, acted and filmed show on television and it must go on for the sake of ART, for the sake of history, for the sake of the Fans.” |
Annie:
New York, New York “I recently started watching The Borgias because I saw it all over Tumblr and got curious. I never expected to like it as much as I did. It was so amazing that I couldn't stop watching. When I heard that it was in danger of being cancelled, I was sad but not too worried. I didn't think such an amazing show would actually be cancelled. But then it was. I am not sure if this fan campaign will work but I really really hope it does. The Borgias deserves another season. The ending of season 3 just left fans wanting more. The show ended on such a cliffhanger that it can't possibly be a real ending. I want to see more of Lucrezia and Cesare, both separately and together. I want to know what (if anything) will happen because of Alfonso's death. I want to see Rodrigo die. The Borgias did not have a proper ending and I think it deserves one. This show is so wonderful. It made me like people that I never thought I'd like. I went into this show expecting to hate all of the characters, but I didn't. I love Lucrezia. I love Cesare. And even though I hate Rodrigo, it's in a love to hate kind of way. Yes, I want to get to see him die, but his schemes also interest me. I want another season of The Borgias. I want more Lucrezia. I want more Cesare. I want more Giulia. I want more Vanozza. I just want more of this wonderful show.” |
Fay:
"I'll say just this: I started to watch the show 1 month ago. I saw ALL THE EPS IN 7 DAYS. You know what this means?? I am ADDICTED, MESMERIZED. With the scenario, the actors, the costumes, the music, the UNBELIEVABLE CHEMISTRY between Holly and Francois, AND ALL THE MAGNIFICENT CAST. Each and every one, of the leading cast, to the second roles. I love all the "double-substance" Neil Jordan puts IN EVERY LINE OF THE DIALOGUE, EVERY SCENE. PLEASE GIVE THE BORGIAS A 4 SEASON, IS THE BEST SHOW I HAVE EVER SEEN.I CANNOT EVEN THINK THAT WE WILL NOT HAVE A 4 SEASON. I am prepare to fight with UTTER devotion and determination and hard work, to make this CAUSE reality. AS WE ALL BORGIAS FANS ARE. Thank you for this WONDERFUL Website, and our new "home" in FB, our BRAND NEW PAGE, https://www.facebook.com/SaveTheBorgiasFC. They are so beautiful, and "cozy", both of them...I just want to spend me free time there!! A big "thank you" to all the admins, and all fans, that make them reality.... Keep up the good work!!!” |
Lucia:
Lima, Peru “The Borgias is or was a very well written and produced show, the acting quality was superb. The storyline was amazing and it was a crime to ended the way it did. The plot was definetely far from over, there are too many cliffhangers yet to solve and those magnificent characters deserve a real and true ending!” |
Elissa:
“The decision to prematurely cut this wonderful show without a full fourth season is ludicrous. This type of quality programming (also The Tudors, Weeds) has kept me a loyal subscriber year over year. Poor decisions will only harm your sterling reputation as an uncompromising premium channel. Notwithstanding, if viewership and loyalty is any indication, The Borgias was another cash cow. The executive decision that it was "too expensive to produce"(ostensibly without sufficient ROI) is a weak justification without basis in true accounting, if subscribers and viewership correlate. It was a bad decision. Reverse it, and fans will forgive. Produce a full 10 episode Season 4 of The Borgias and we will be sated. Until then, prepare to receive a lot more sardines.” |
Paul:
“The Borgias deserves a fourth season because it breaks new ground in so many ways, allowing us to understand institutional power structure, especially that of the church, with renewed and clearer vision. Beyond that, it is very entertaining, and literally the only appointment television we have had since the Tudors went off the air.” |
Liz:
American living in Costanta, Romania “I feel that the Borgias is an epic tale with a brilliant and captivating cast, stunning scenery and costumes and it deserves to be told.” |
Rita:
“I feel that the network cancelled too soon. The season 3 finale felt in no way like the end but in a way a change. You see Cesare finally realizing he can no longer keep pulling away from Lucrezia, and we need to find out how she handles his change. Also Cesare has only fought the first battle as the leader of the Papal army, something he has fought for since the beginning of the series. Show us the reign of Cesare has 'The Prince'.” |
Emma:
Newmarket, Suffolk, UK “The Borgias is the best series in so very long time. Michelletto's Tears of Blood Scene deserved an award it was so moving, haunting and beautiful. I can't live without an ending to this family that we have followed so faithfully for so long.” |
Mary Ann:
Durham, NC “1. Exceptionally innovative TV re: visual detail and a focus on appealing to the viewer's six senses; e.g., see the light streaming in through the window ; feel the satin on Lucrezia's clothing; smell Rodrigo's cigar smoke, etc. 2. Rooted in history. no, not a documentary, but very well rooted. 3. Level of detail on the set 4. Great acting 5. There's so much more story to tell: a. Rodrigo dies b. Della Rovere becomes pope. c. Pope deceives Caesare d. Caesare's imprisonment e. Caesare fights as a mercenary in Spain and . . . (I won't tell you the end.)” |
Ioana:
“I must say at first i wasn't such a big fan, it was nice and similar to Tudors but after 5 episodes i stopped watching. This was 2 years ago, but this year my father started to tell me what a grea show it is and how much he looks forward to see each episode. So i said to myself" lets give is another try". I restarted watching and i became so captivated i had a marathon of Borgias. Every breathtaking episode, every story , i watched in owe as every character developted and lived their passion, their happy moments, the love, the envy, the hate, the passion. And when it all ended i felt empty and hollow a void that needs to be filled with more Borgias! I fight for the story because there is none like it on the Tv. They are unique and a proper end is needed because a beautiful story like this need a beautiful ending worthy of The Borgias!! Lets SaveTheBorgias!!” |
Linda:
“It was a superlative drama, one of the very few shows on television worth watching. And the story of the Borgias is not yet told. If the sponsors cared one iota about true art they would have allowed the show to come to a proper resolution even if it operated at a loss. However, not only did the show have an avid fan-base, but the extraordinary quality of the production was on the verge of garnering new devotees that would support this show for a long time to come.” |
Marina:
Iowa City, Iowa “The Borgias is an extremely well constructed piece. It has all the attributes of a major motion picture stretched out into a television series. Like anything, it has some holes, but they are easily forgivable. The costuming is fantastic (historically accurate and charmingly stout- especially Cesare's leather pants), the acting is phenomenal (Jeremy Irons, Francois Arnaud, Holliday Grainger, and Sean Harris are irreplacable talents), the script is spectacular (Neil Jordan's writing is second to none), and the cinematography is out of this world (Season 3 especially is chalked full of magnificent lighting and morally ambiguous symbolism). And every season, this amazing team upped the ante. That being said, however wonderful a production is, it's par and esteem fall hard when it's conclusion is cut short. Such a team deserves to at least bring their story its rightful end. It is not too much to ask, for epic quality deserves an epic conclusion.” |
Ruth:
St. Louis, MO “A quality show that was killed before its time. |
Lorena:
Virginia “We deserve another season because not only are we paying customers of Showtime, because it was announced that The Borgias was originally intended to be a four season project we have been cheated. Especially those of us who only stared purchasing Showtime for The Borgias. It is one of the most well written, well developed, character driven shows on TV and if the recent 6 Emmy nominations and fan devotion isn't enough to change the minds of Showtime execs then that fact that their paying customers aren't happy should be. If I walked into a restaurant and was denied a product because they were tired of making it I would walk out. Which is exactly what I will do if Showtime continues to deny us The Borgias, which is technically their product. Their ratings were up with The Borgias so their was no reason to cancel the show and mistreat/let down their paying customers.” |
Danielle:
“It deserves another season. cause well it does. the fans who paid to subscribe to Showtime deserved much more respect than a cancellation to clear the tables for other less stellar shows. Lots of people invested time and heart into these people, they became more than just characters AND it stimulated historical interest which opened the Borgias up to new study. well directed, well conceived well acted well produced and thoroughly fleshed out multi dimensional characters even down to the ones just sort of passing thru. Well written..did i say that. WELL, deeply , the Borgias was and is well done and stands the TEST of time.” |
Rya:
Oak Park, IL “It was extremely well done and I cared about the characters. I wish them terribly on Sunday nights and wish that it could have been brought to a proper conclusion. Rare is a program of such great quality and richness and fairly accurate re: the history.” |
Laura:
Whitewater, WI “Showtime should be proud of the strong and loyal fan base The Borgias has inspired. Our passion should be testament to the strong writing and incredible acting talents they have brought together in The Borgias. However ... Showtime should be absolutely ashamed of the way they have repaid the loyalty of (then) paying subscribers. We have been denied a proper ending to storylines we have faithfully followed for 3 years. And to add insult to injury, we were not even given the consideration of advanced notice of such an abrupt exit.Other Showtime series fans were showed far more respect, usually being notified of Final Seasons before those seasons even began...not 2 episodes before ‘the end’. Awesome SEASON finale...left us wanting more...SEASON 4!!” |
Linda:
Yuma, AZ “This show was beautifully done. The cast of characters were amazing, I was stunned when I found out it was ending! It was one of the reasons I kept Showtime!” |
Jennifer:
Texas “Like Neil Jordan states: ‘It's not finished at all, as all the fans know’ (UPI.com, 2013).” |
Suzanne:
Orange County, CA “When Amazon delivers my Borgias Season 3 DVD's on August 6th I will be cancelling my Showtime. I will not renew until they BRING BACK THE BORGIAS! It is by far my favorite TV show to date. I think we should start a "Bring back the Borgias or I will cancel my Showtime" event. The only way Showtime is going to add another season is if it is more costly to cancel it than to make a season 4. I don't know how much everyone else pays, but my Showtime is $15.00 a month. If each of the 2.4 average weekly viewers cancelled, it would send them a message. I propose on August 6th that everyone cancels their Showtime until the Borgias are restored!” |
Sandra:
Watervliet, NY “My thought is The Borgias deserves another season for a completion of the story telling. I would also like an entire show dedicated to Cesar himself. I love this series of historical storytelling. Why do we need to have shows on the air about serial killers, homicide, etc.? The Borgias was a great example of true dialogue writing and storytelling of any fashion. This was an exceptional show. I really wish the series could be picked up by another network and tell Showtime to go bankrupt without the many subscriptions they did have.” |
Tracy:
USA “We, my husband and I, as well as many of our family members, are avid viewers of THE BORGIAS. This series has been a delicious and guilty pleasure. My husband was raised in a very strict catholic home and finds a certain joy in watching this. After every episode, he smirks and says, "Fucking catholic church!" Schaudenfreude!!!!! It would leave an immense void in our quality television time--really! Thanks for providing the opportunity to vent!” |
Sara:
Calgary AB, Canada “Don't let The Borgias go down in history as an unfinished masterpiece.” |
Rdx_rap:
“I live in France and i love the show and wish a more respectful ending.” |
Tammy:
Jacksonville, FL “This show has changed my life and my point of view about history and the catholic church. I can watch the Borgias forever, season four please!!!!!!!!!!!” |
Camillybug:
“Hottest show ever. Stopped watching Mad Men because it was just too damn boring in comparison.” |
Audrey:
San Francisco, CA “They are missing the extremely dramatic ending of Alexander's and Cesare's lives! There needs to be at least one more season, possibly two, to reap the full benefits of what has been set up. It is like leaving the play before the final act!” |
Jocelyn:
Santa Clarita, CA “It is the best show on TV I have ever seen! This historic portrayal is a treat for the senses in every possible way. I would be left in a trance after each episode, wanting more...how can anyone compare the reality garbage to this work of art? Even the clothes were a work of art. I was very upset about the cancel of The Borgias, as was everyone else I know who followed it. I still can't believe it...what a bunch of *&#!. Thank you, Jocelyn (big Borgia fan)” |
Evgenie:
Athens, Greece “The Borgias is a series that I couldn't watch when it aired in my country due to the late hour it was on. So, when my exams ended, I watched it on the Internet, as I had said I would when I found out about it. It turned out to be one of the best series I have ever watched. I admired, at first, the costumes and settings, and I imagine that all that must cost a lot. The show was extremely well done. The first thing that tempted me to watch it was... Assassin's Creed. That was the first time I heard of Rodrigo, Cesare and Lucrezia Borgia. And that's another point I want to make. In Assassin's Creed, the Borgias were the enemy, the bad guys. And even though the show doesn't depict them as saints (quite the opposite, actually) and they are shown to do unbelievably bad things (bribery, corruption, mass murder, fratricide and incest only being some of them, the actors do such a great job at showing the emotions that the characters feel and building up the background for each act, that the viewer almost feels those acts are justified and sometimes doesn't realize their outrageousness. Especially the protagonists, Jeremy Irons, Francois Arnaud, Holliday Grainger, Sean Harris, Gina McKee and many others, are marvelous to watch acting. The Borgias is a show that definitely deserves a fourth season, as the three seasons so far seem to have been building up suspense that has to lead somewhere. At the very least, the TV movie should be made, as the last episode of third season was really inadequate as a series finale, leaving countless loose ends. It would really be a shame to leave such a magnificent project unfinished.” |
Lorelei:
Oakland, CA “The Borgias is one of the best series to come along in a long time. The series needs at least one more season to explore the death of Pope Alexander VI. How can a show that is this popular not have another season when so many other worse shows keep limping along is beyond my ability to fathom.” |
Sofiya:
Kiev, Ukraine “The Borgians is not just a serial, it's a story about people's life in a past. Should forget the past?” |
Jazmin:
Arequipa City, Peru “Amazing actors, amazing script........... is hard to explain what I feel when I see it. but I know that needs a season 4 , at least, and a better end!!!” |
Claudia:
Belize “I commit to things, and I've been committed to this show since 2011. I'm also selfish and things that i like i want to always have. so i'm selfishly committed to The Borgias and i want them to have proper closure with a season 4!!!” |
Catherine:
California “The Borgias renews my faith in television writing and production. The Borgias is show for adults, about interesting, 3-dimensional character and is that simultaneously provided a window into a period of history not often discussed. The show also respects the history and expects its audience to engage instead of simply witness. I love it!” |
Evi:
Netherlands “It's such an awesome series, the deeper relationships and the complex personalities and characters are just outstanding, and I have never seen a series that was anything like it.” |
Shell:
UK “I am in the UK but I have already seen S.3 and the finale. If the Prince is going to be the last episode, the entire serie would have been a waste of money. There is no resolution, is incomplete, the history of the period just started when Alfonso died, although not how depicted...The series must continue until the deaths of the Pope and Cesar and Micheleto...this finale is rubbish. I am a Borgia addict and I am devastated.” |
Rosalind:
UK “The Borgias deserves a 4th season and a proper conclusion. Showtime shame on you.” |
Lisa:
Palm Beach Gardens, FL “I waited for so long to see the show, and just as I am calling in love with it, I find out it's cancelled.” |
Lillian:
Texas “In my humble opinion The Borgia's was one of the best shows every made for TV. It was well written and the acting was Oscar worthy. What a shame to stop without a final episode.” |
Suzanne:
Orange County, CA “I canceled my Showtime until season 4 is made.” |
Carmakazi:
Kansas “I just started watching the Borgias this week online through comcast. I love it and have been watching it daily trying to catch up. It's superb, think showtime made a huge mistake not going on with a 4th season. Wish I'd been watching it from the start love it. Hate to see it canceled. It's hard to find good period shows like this.” |
Jessica:
Australia, VIC “Because it is so well written and filmed, there is enough drivel on television, save the shows that count!” |
Luna:
California “JUST RESPECT YOUR VIEWERS & BRING BACK THE BORGIAS. WHAT IF WE SUDDENLY QUIT SUBSCRIBING TO YOUR NETWORK? ITHINK THAT DECISION WON'T BE SO NICE, WILL IT?” |
Scott:
Williamsville, NY “Best show ever almost. Certainly deserves a proper end and will otherwise go down in history as one of those Firefly like bonehead decisions and a real muck-up of something historical and wonderful to watch. I will cancel showtime if they don't deal.” |
Laura:
Montreal, Quebec, Canada “Just discovered the show via dvd this week. Had cancelled my cable years ago as a protest to the reality tv show trend. Now there's finally a well written, acted, directed show to follow & the gal at the cable company informs me The Borgias has been cancelled??!!! Why??? If showtime is soooo strapped for cash, I'll gladly Paypal some funds to keep this show going!!! HEY SHOWTIME, STOP TELLING the viewers what we want to watch & start LISTENING to what we are telling YOU!!!!!” |
Mark:
Camden, SC “Great Show that is far from being completed. I will cancel Showtime now!” |
John:
“Loved, loved, loved this series. Please bring it back if the same actors will agree.” |
